Meet Milmantė, a Senior User Support Specialist at Primend Lithuania. In this insightful interview, Milmantė shares her journey, challenges and the passions that keep her motivated.
A Multifaceted Childhood
Milmantė’s childhood was a whirlwind of activities, starting with swimming at the tender age of five. “My parents took my twin sister and me to the swimming pool, even though I was initially afraid of the water,” she recalls. Over time, swimming became an integral part of her life, with regular training sessions shaping her routine.
Alongside swimming, Milmantė attended music school for seven years, cultivating a love for music, although she never considered herself an artistic soul. “Water and swimming have always been my hobbies and my favourite place to relax,” she says.
Interestingly, Milmantė’s academic pursuits took a surprising turn. Despite a childhood dream of becoming a doctor, she chose to study Information Systems at Vilnius Tech University during the Covid period. “Yes, a complete ‘newcomer’ in the IT field, I started learning IT and somehow managed to finish my studies,” she reflects, as she eagerly awaits her graduation ceremony. By the time the new issue of this article is published, Milmante will have already graduated, so congrats!
She has quite diverse work experience, with roles ranging from waitressing to customer service, factory work and teaching children. “I am still trying to find myself, but one thing I have really understood is that the people and team around me are one of the most important aspects,” she emphasises.
Discovering Primend
Milmantė’s path to Primend began with a search for an IT internship. “Someone I knew mentioned that Primend was looking for employees, so without hesitation, I sent my CV,” she recounts. Despite having no IT experience, she was chosen.
Initially, everything at Primend was challenging and stressful for Milmantė. “Anything new, unknown and unseen caused stress, and I am someone who tends to stress out,” she admits with a laugh.
For newcomers to her position, Milmantė offers this advice: “Don’t be afraid, take all the opportunities that life gives you and you will surely realise that you can achieve more than you think.”
A Love for Italy
Travel is a passion for Milmantė, with Italy holding a special place in her heart. “The sun, the warmth, the azure waters, the refreshing breeze – this country exudes serenity, relaxation and aesthetic beauty,” she explains. Her favourite city in Italy is Venice, with its unique transportation system and captivating culture. She also recommends visiting the colourful islands of Murano and Burano.
Milmantė’s Italian adventures began with a tour of Rome, Florence, Pisa and Venice. Her travels later took her to cities like Verona, Sirmione and Cinque Terre, among others. “Each visit deepens my appreciation for Italy’s rich cultural tapestry and diverse landscapes,” she says. One of her most memorable food experiences involved the Italian dessert Stracciatella, and she holds a special fondness for Italian Gelato.
Self-Care and Well-Being
Milmantė manages stress through sports, nature and spending time with loved ones. “Whether it’s a simple trip around Lithuania or a trip abroad, anything where I can discover or learn something new helps,” she explains. One spontaneous trip saw her driving 300 km at 2 am just to see the sunrise over the sea, a decision she cherishes for the calm it brought her.
Looking Ahead
If she could swap lives with anyone in the company for a day, it would be our Cloud Service Administrator Kadi. “Spending a day in Tenerife, where the sun shines almost every day of the year, sounds pretty good,” she says. Globally, she would like to swap lives with someone who has changed the world for the better.
Milmantė’s bucket list includes a trip around the world on a cruise ship, and she dreams of mastering surfing to fulfil her wish of surfing in Australia. If she could time travel, she would choose the future to witness technological advancements and their impact on daily life.
Finally, if her life had a theme song, it would be “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, a fitting anthem for someone with her adventurous spirit and optimistic outlook.
